Ernest Arthur Little was born on 11 October 1910 in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia, the son of Florence Maude (Huxley) Little and John Lindsay Little.[1]
Ernest died on 9 February 1918, drowned in a waterhole at Gentle's Brickworks in Alexandria, New South Wales. He and a friend had been catching frogs, when 7-year-old Ernest fell in.[2][3]
Ernest's remains were interred at the Church of England Cemetery in Rookwood.[4]
Ernest was remembered as a blond, curly-haired, happy-go-lucky boy, much loved by his 10 siblings and parents.
Ernest Arthur Little (7), living with his parents in William Street, Erskineville, was drowned on Saturday afternoon in a waterhole at Gentle's Brickworks, at Alexandria. The deceased and a companion were catching frogs from the waterhole when Little fell in. His friend gave the alarm, and William Hartley hurried to the scene, and recovered the body by diving. Newtown District Ambulance wore called up and made attempts to restore animation by artificial respiration. They, however, were unsuccessful, and the body was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where life was pronounced extinct.
