William was born on 11 August 1872 in Marlton (Cropwell), Burlington County, New Jersey. He was the son of William Brick Lippincott and Rachel E. Collins. ^{[1] [2][3]}

William married Caroline Woolman, daughter of Daniel L. Woolman of Vincetown on Oct 27, 1897 in Vincetown, Burlington County, New Jersey.^[4] William and Caroline had the following children:
