In 2019, Gene participated in the FTDNA sponsored R DF 27 project administered by Lucas McCaw [email address removed] in association with Joseph Lindsey, administrator of Lindsay International, lindsay.one-name.net, and Susan Grabek, Group 2 Lindsey manager and host of mimpickles.com. Four other Group 2 participants took part in the DF 27 project including a Pennington family member. Gene’s DNA participant number on mimpickles.com is L0045 (originally on clanlindsay.com), descending from Isaac Lindsey, abt 1740 (Long Marsh, VA -who died in 1832 in Hall County, Georgia. The results of the Big Y test and the DF 27 research project proved that all Group 2 Lindsey lines including L0045/876859 descend from common ancestor R-FT78036, determined to be Edmund Lindsey, born about 1666 in Charles County, Maryland who died in 1709 in Cecil County, Maryland. Edmund had a wife named Abigail, 1668-1712, who may have been Abigail Dent. It is believed but not proven that Edmund Lindsey, 1666-1709, was the son of Edmund Lindsey, b. 1624 in England, who arrived in St. Mary’s, Maryland in 1650, had a wife named Elinor/Eleanor, and who died in the vicinity of Cecil County, Maryland or New Castle, Delaware between 1677 and 1687.
