THREE CHEERS FOR LATE Mr. LINDSAY
As the remains of distinguished artist Percival Charles Lindsay left a North Sydney chapel late today, artist friends stood and gave three hearty cheers.
The mourners were led in the cheering by National Art Gallery Director Hal Missingham. The cortege left the chapel for the Northern Suburbs Crematorium.
In an earlier tribute to Mr. Lindsay, who died yesterday aged 82, Mr. Missingham said "his death had removed one member of the most legendary family in Australian art.
Mr. Lindsay was the eldest of four brothers, Sir Lionel and Messrs. Norman and Daryl. His son, Peter, is also a well-known Sydney artist.
Mr. Daryl Lindsay, Director of the National Art Gallery of Victoria, left for America on Saturday after visiting his brother, whom he said was then in good health.
Four of Mr. Percy Lindsay's works are hung, in the National Gallery.
