Emma E. Cantly is not the Emmeline Cantly who was added to this family tree. This Emmeline was an incorrect addition to our family tree as contributed by Mark Geesey. Emmeline Cantly was a housemother (called a nurse) at the Charleston Orphan House from 1840-1852, resigning in 1852. The 1850 census age line was smudged and her correct age was 45 (not 5-our Emma E. Cantly was born in 1845). Emma's name is documented through her signature on deeds and land records as well as her death certificate and tombstone. The name Emmeline should not be used as the spouse of Dr. Robert Ilderton (Limehouse).
