Hi Rebecca,

We've made a change in how the tutorials are sent to new members. Instead of weekly messages you can now work at your own pace.

How is it going so far? Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions?

We want to help! Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Debi ~ WikiMessenger

PS Sometimes links don't work in emails. You can always find a link that works in the public comments on your profile.

Hello Rebecca,

Welcome to week four!

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let one of us know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!

You've been here for several weeks now! We hope your profiles are coming together and you've enjoyed getting to know us a little better.

You're getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now and collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

Questions?? Just ask! If the above link does not work from your email, please go to your profile in the public comments and it will work from there.

Thanks, Cindy

PS-Good work so far! Have you noticed on ancestor profiles on bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try!

pps - use a _ between West & Virginia to get the tag west_virginia

P.S. [update - d'oh! "Please add virginia to your list of followed tags" - you already had! Teach me to not read my "go-by" before hitting post!] . . . you might also want to add us_history & southern_colonies. And please send me a private message so I can send you an invitation to WikiTree's Virginia Google Group.

For hints and suggestions about finding sources for Virginia families, check out Team Virginia's Source-a-Thon page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Team_Virginia

Thanks for joining the Virginia Project! When you get a chance, please add something about yourself in the Members section of the project page & take a look at our goals and "things to do".

Hello

This week, we'd like to show you How to Join in the Community. There's no shortage of opportunities to get involved through social media, our forum, and projects.

Be sure to check out the One Name Studies Project to see if anyone has started a project for one of the surnames in your family. Don't see one? Follow the instructions for starting your own!

Please let me know if you have questions. :-)

Hi!

I see you have an interest in Virginia (I saw your Virginia tag). Let me know if you'd like to join the Virginia project - it's a subproject under the United States History project & covers post-USA Virginia (from 1776).

You might also be interested in this Virginia project, under the US Southern Colonies project, which covers "pre-USA" Virginia.

And there's also a West Virginia project.

Cheers, Liz
