Woonplek: Hy is waarskynlik die BJ Liebenberg wat die plaas Leeufontein (7246 morg) in die wyk Uitvlugt in Graaff-Reinet besit het. Hy was ook as gevolg van verskeie probleme reeds in 1835 of vroeer gedwing om as Trekboer oorkant die Oranje te vertoef. Die siviele kommesaris van Colesberg, Rawstorne, het in junie 1837 waarskynlik na hierdie Barend Johannes Liebenberg verwys toe hy gerapporteer het dat hy".....with four married sons and daughters and a large family calculated at 4 men, 4 wives, 14 children..." reeds in 1835 in "Griekwaland was en nou blykbaar permanent verhuis het. Die vertrek datum was waarskynlik begin 1836 en moontlik by Trekgeselskap van AH Potgieter aangesluit. [4]
