Raymond Fillmore Leyde was born on 2 April 1873, in Winsted, McLeod, Minnesota, United States. He was the son of Armenius Leyde and Kitty Pinkerton.

"He traveled from Minnesota to Victoria, B.C. by railroad, then came up to Seattle by boat in 1888. He worked on tugs on Puget Sound several years. At the turn of the century, Mr. Leyde operated a dairy farm in Cherry Valley, where the town of Duvall now stands."^[1]

Raymond Fillmore Leyde married Carolyn B. (Shadrach) Ackley on 17 December 1899 in Friday Harbor, San Juan, Washington, United States.^[2] They were the parents of at least 1 daughter.

Raymond returned briefly to work on his father's farm Novelty, King, Washington^[5], but in 1911, Raymond was living in Battleford Sub-Districts 1-58, Saskatchewan, Canada.^[6] In 1930 he was in Menomonee, Waukesha, Wisconsin^[7], but back in Seattle in 1940^[8].

Raymond Fillmore Leyde died on 14 February 1950, in Washington, United States, at the age of 76. He was buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Monroe, Snohomish, Washington, United States. His Seattle Daily Times obituary refers to Raymond as a "pioneer resident of Seattle."^[1]
