  5. Source: S403 Semi-Weekly South Kentuckian Hopkinsville, Kentucky · Tuesday, April 21, 1885 We notice in the Courier-Journal of Tuesday last that the heirs of Judas Levi, formerly the market-master of Maysville, Kentucky, have had the good luck to be the heirs of an estate of $60,000,000 in London, England. The heirs have called a meeting to be held at the office of Capt. B C Levi, No 174 4th street, Louisville, KY at 10 o'clock, April 20 1885, to employ an agent to proceed to London and receive the estate. The heirs of Judas Levi are scattered throughout the United States, and all are requested to attend this important meeting. The principal heirs to this immense estate are John L Scott, attorney at law, of Frankfort, Kentucky and his brothers, Capt B C Levi and his brothers and sisters, of Louisville, Kentucky and the children of Elias Levi, Zach Levi, Mordecai Levi, and the other grand children of Judas Levi, including the children of Roswell Grant, uncle of Gen U S Grant, all of whom are requested to be present at this meeting at Capt. B C Levi's office, April 20, 1885. 6. Source: S381 The Evening Bulletin Maysville, Kentucky · Thursday, April 23, 1885 The Louisville Evening Times of April 20th, says: Some time ago the fact was made public that a fortune of $50,000,000 is in the Bank of England, awaiting a claimant. From certain known facts it was believed that the heirs to whom this magnificent legacy properly belonged lived in this city, and an investigation was at once set on foot looking to the proof of this theory. After much tedious labor it has finally been settled that the descendents of the Levi family of this city are the heirs to the English fortune. A few weeks ago Captain B C Levi, the veteran steamboatman, received the original papers, which finally settled the matter. He at once called for a meeting of the heirs to appoint an agent to visit England and recover the money. In answer, the following named heirs met at Captain Levi's office this morning: B C Levi, Willis Levi, C H Levi, George W. Levi, E E Levi and J C Levi, of this city; Thos. Levi, of Jefferson County; James Levi and Mrs Joseph Kern, of New Albany; J H Rudy, of Memphis Mock Levi. Mr Mock Levi was elected Chairman and E E Levi Secretary. On account of the absence of 2 or 3 heirs the meeting adjourned until 3 o'clock this afternoon to await their arrival. Mr Levi says there is no question as to their right to the fortune, and that they merely have to go through the formality of being recognized by the proper authrorities in England.
