Ira Levin is Notable.

Ira Marvin Levin was born in Manhattan, New York, United States in 1929 to Charles Levin, a toy importer, and Beatrice (Unknown).

He was educated at the Horace Mann School. He attended Drake University 1946-1948 and later New York University. While at NYU he majored in philosophy and English.

Ira married Gabrielle Rochelle Aronsohn in Manhattan in 1960. They divorced. Ira married divorcee Phyllis (Sugerman) Finkel at Kings Point, Long Island on 26 Aug 1979. They divorced.

Ira was an author. His first novel, A Kiss Before Dying, was published in 1953. It was well-received. He is best known for his second novel, Rosemary's Baby was published in 1967. It was made into a film the following year. 5 of his novels have been adapted to film.

He passed away at his home in Manhattan on 12 Nov 2007. Ira was survived by three sons from his first marriage, as well as his sister.
