Biography

Married William Welch Family information was compiled by Sidell Welch Cooper, Granddaughter of James Thomas Welch and Nancy Myatt, d/o Alfred Nathaniel "Nate" Welch and Cora Bell Dixon (Ford) Welch, She took down oral histories, particularly from her Father, did extensive Bible and records searches in Putnam Co (formerly White Co.) TN which she summarized and some of which was published in "Standing Stone, Tenn Monterey: Early History" by John Roy Dillard.

According to the above research, Mathias and Susan had 11 children: 1) Mary m. John Washington Jackson; 2) Jane m. James P. Anderson; 3) Dicey m. 1st Thomas Roberson, 2nd E. N, (Elisha Newton) Henry; 4) Rebecca m. Zachriah Lee (1st of his 4 wives); 5) William m. Nancy Lee; 6) Nathaniel m. Martha Lee; 7) John m. Francis Womack, sister of Nancy Womack Ford; 8) Julia A never married; 9) Alexander m. Catherine Lee; 10) James Thomas (b. 25 Feb 1844 White Co TN) m. Nancy Myatt; 11) Susan never married.
