Here's a partial list of some of my more notable distant relatives on my maternal side of the family:

Here's a partial list of some of my notable ancestors and relatives on my paternal side of the family. It is by no means a comprehensive list:

  • The actress, Margarita Carmen (Cansino) Hayworth (otherwise known as "Rita"), are 20th cousins twice removed. We are related through Rita's matriarchal line. According to Wikitree, we share 18 common ancestors. We are both descended from Robert (Legh) de Legh

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Legh-25

  • William Tecumseh Sherman and I are 14th cousins five times removed. We are both descendants of Margery (Cotton) Venables

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cotton-204

  • The actress, Elizabeth Victoria Montgomery (she played Samantha on the television show, "Bewitched"), and I are 9th cousins. We are both descendants of Ann (Spilsby) Hunter https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Spilsby-1
  • The singer and actress, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and I are 25th cousins three times removed. We are both descendants of Privacy Level: Open (White) Mathilde (Evreux) de Montfort

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Evreux-47

  • Lucille Fay (LeSueur) Crawford (otherwise known as Joan Crawford), and I are 16th cousins once removed. We are both descended from Privacy Level: Open (White) Margaret (Olney) Throckmorton

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Olney-88

  • The Spanish explorer and conquistador, Juan Ponce de León, and I are 6th cousins seventeen times removed. We are both descended from Fernando Alfónsez (Castilla) de Castilla https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Castilla-105

This is just a select few. This list is by no means complete. I am also distantly related to 8 Mayflower passengers (distant cousins), 29 U.S. Presidents, and 24 out of 25 Magna Carta Surety Barons (15 of which are direct ancestors).

Researching my family tree has shown me that many of us are more connected than we realize. I am by no means finished with my research. There is still much work to do.

I am happy and grateful to have discovered all of this information about my family tree; however, I recognize it is subject to human error. I have no illusions about myself or my family. All human beings are equal in terms of worth. This is simply my family tree, and it is a part of who I am. Without my ancestors, I wouldn't be here.

Mary,

I just received my DNA test results, and its saying that you are very likely my parents first cousin. I was put up for adoption though, in February of 1988 immediately following my birth in Bedford, VA. Im looking for any information about my biological family that i can find...you and i share roughly 10% DNA match...other close relatives suggested are Linda Guzzardi (supposedly my aunt) and Emily Guzzardi (supposedly my first cousin). Please let me know if you might have any information youd be willing to share. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind Regards, David Palanuk (adoptive parents name appearing on Birth Certificate...the name would likely not be relevant for family-relativity)

Hi, David. Please upload your raw DNA data and you should be able to connect with other family members on Wikitree.

Dear Mary,

since I didn’t see any reaction from your side about the check-in message from May, I assume you don’t want to remain a project member. If I don’t hear from you within the next 14 days, I will then remove your Germany Project badge. If you do not wish for that to happen, please reply to the check-in message below or send me a direct message.

If this message finds you too late, feel free to re-request the badge by replying to our G2G join post.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi,

It’s Germany Project check-in time again! Please respond within the next 2 weeks and let me know if you’re still interested in participating with the Project. Remember, the only requirements for membership in the Germany Project are (1) that you work on at least one German profile every 6 months and (2) that you respond to this check-in.

Since you’re not working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams yet, please look at our main Project page for a full list and let me know which team you’d like to join.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. In your response, we welcome any feedback you may want to give on the project (what you like about it, what you’d like to see us do, what we could change, etc.)

If you ever have any questions, please ask. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi, my second great grandmother, Amanda E. Loggins is the sister to Olive Fair (Loggins) Gayton, in your tree. I have been trying to prove their mother, Eliza, Liza, Elizabeth Smith. She appears in several census (1850, 1860,1870) as Samuel's wife (no maiden name of course). Lumpkin County Georgia marriage records show an Elizabeth Loggins who married a George Smith in 1837. No other records of marriage have I been able to find. If you or anyone else has more information on Amanda and Olive Fair's mother, it would be appreciated.

Thanks, Wendell

Hello! I don't know much about Elizabeth Smith (Olive Fair's mother). The only information I have at the present time is that she was born in North Carolina in 1818 and she married Samuel Loggins. An alternate name is listed as "Liza". I don't have any information on her parents. I wish I knew more.
