Hartson B. Leach was born in Canton, Maine, the son of Jacob and Sally Leach. No single source has been found identifying his parents, but the family register of Jacob and Sally Leach in Canton lists Hartson B. Leach born on 17 Jun 1824.[1] Hartson B. Leach of Livermore can be linked to this Hartson through the will of his sister, Mary F. Child, which lists Hartson as her brother, his three children as her nephews and niece, and lists several other siblings which are also in the family register of Jacob and Sally Leach.[2][1] The 1860 Census shows him as 36 years old, born in Maine.[3]
Hartson B. Leach of Livermore, Maine, made his will on 4 Jan 1889. He names his wife, Nancy; his sons, Frank A. Leach and Calvin R. Leach; and his daughter, Ida C. Monroe. Calvin was named as the esecutor.[5]
Death
The 1928 history of Livermore, Maine, written by Hartson Leach's son-in-law Ira Thompson Monroe, says that Hartson B. Leach died in 1892.[4] A petition in his probate file says that he died on 27 Jul 1892.[6] A 2003 transcription of tmhe inscription on his gravestone says that he died in 1897 (probably a misreading of the date) and is buried at the Waters Hill Cemetery in Livermore,[7]
