Biography

Richard Lavender was born about 1831. He was the son of James Lavender and Asenath Joyce. In 1841, Richard was residing with his parents and six siblings in Bird's End, Rickling, Essex, England. ^[1] By 1851, Richard was 20-years-old, single, occupied as a labourer and still living at home with his parents in Rickling, Essex. ^[2]

In 1854, Richard left England accompanied by his eldest brother William, arriving in New South Wales, Australia aboard the Sabrina under the assisted immigrants scheme.

He married Sarah Andrews in 1856, in Shoalhaven, New South Wales.^[3]

Richard Lavender passed away on the 2nd September 1914, in Bellingen, New South Wales, Australia, aged 83 years,^[4]and was interred in Bellingen Cemetery, Bellingen. ^[5]
