On 5th August 1940 at Baan Baa, New South Wales (together with his brother Phillips), Guy enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force for service during the Second World War. He attained the senior non-commissioned rank of Sergeant. His final posting was to the No.5 Airfield Construction Squadron before being discharged on 26th July 1945. [2] Two of his older brothers also served in the RAAF, whilst the other served in the Army's Volunteer Defence Corps; Phillips being killed during the bombing of Darwin on 19th February 1942.
Whilst still serving in the RAAF, Guy married Isobel Courtney in early 1944 in Sydney. [3] Sadly, Isobel passed away in 1948.
Guy married a second time, to Dulcie Jean Lovett in 1950 in Sydney. [4]
Aged 77 years, he passed away on 2nd August 1997. [5]
