Biography
Edward Latham was born on 20 July 1839 in Liverpool, England, the son of Sarah (Tatlock) Latham and Henry Latham.[1]
He was a brewer, having found the Carlton brewery on the market in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, around 1865. He bought into the business in partnership with another man, and sold out to the Melbourne Brewing and Malting Co. in 1883.[1]
He married Bertha Atkins on 1 February 1865 at All Saints Church in Hobart, Tasmania.[2] Their children were:[1]
- Bertha Martha Latham (1865–1925)
- Thomas Ringrose Latham (1867–1894)
In 1884, Edward travelled extensively in America, Great Britain, Norway, Sweden and other parts of Europe.[3]
Bertha died in May 1894.[4]
Edward remarried in 1895 in Victoria, to Emma Elizabeth Baillieu.[5] Their son was:
- Lambert Latham (1897–1979)[6]
Edward died on 3 July 1905 in Camberwell, Victoria, aged 65 years.[1][7]
