Biography

Stanley Albert Langfield was born on 5th February 1920 in Cowra, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of Sidney Langfield and Grace Brien. ^[1]

Served in the Second Australian Imperial Force 1941-1946
2/11th Armoured Car Regiment

On 19th August 1941 at Bogan Gate, New South Wales Stanley enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force, his nation's overseas expeditionary force for the Second World War. He listed his father as next-of-kin. ^[2]

Stanley married Alma Bailey soon afterwards in 1941 in Condobolin, New South Wales. ^[3]

He was posted to the 2/11th Australian Armoured Car Regiment which was based in Cowra until November 1942, when it was transferred to Western Australia. When the regiment was disbanded in early 1944 with the immediate threat of invasion neutralised, Stanley was re-allocated to a unit 'more suited to jungle warfare'. He was demobilised on 8th January 1946. ^[2]

Aged about 89 years, Stanley passed away about 2009. ^[4]
