Biography

Zebina Lane was born about 1830, the son of Dorcas and Nalachi Lane.

He married Mary Kearney in 1855 in Victoria, Australia.^[1] Their children were:

• Mary Anne Lane (1859–1911)^[2]
• Mary Dorcas Lane (1867–1948)^[3]
• George Washington Lane (1869–1920)^[4]
• Rhoda Elizabeth Lane (1872–1895)^[5]

Zebina died on 12 April 1906 in Caulfield, Victoria, aged 76 years.^[6][7]

   Zebina Lane, senior, formerly of St. Arnaud, but late of Inkerman road, Caulfield, retired mining manager, who died on April 12 last, left real and personal property valued at £8939. By his will, which was filed for probate yesterday, testator directed that his property should be divided between his widow mid- children. Mr. Lane was one of the pioneer gold miners. He opened up Lane's reef, Wedderburn, in the first days of quartz mining, and subsequently was a plucky rind energetic worker on various fields, including the Huntly and Malmsbuty. His eldest son is Mr. Zebina Lane, M.L.C., of West Australia.
