Biography

Henry was born about 1782, according to his entry on the 1851 census (checked and it clearly says he was 69). He may be the man who was born in 1791 and christened on 6 Apr 1791 with parents William and Jane in St Laurence in Thanet, but the age is wildly different.^[1]

Henry Laming, bachelor, married Mary Grant, widow^[2], on 13 Jul 1814 in St Laurence in Thanet, Kent, England.^[3]Both bride and groom were of the parish of St Laurence in Thanet (Ramsgate), Kent and the witnesses were William Laming and Jane Laming.^[4]

He was still registered with a merchant seaman’s ticket, 56338, in 1845 as Henry Laming of Ramsgate.^[5]
