Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi George, I'm Mary Richardson, a Mentor. Plenty to write here. Here are some helps for you. ENJOY. Go slow for accuracy, add your family one at a time, recheck, then SAVE.

How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.

Try to only add one profile per person. Please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Try to add DOB, DOD, locations, references to each person. Find an ancestor on WikiTree, contact PM for trusted access.

Hi George,

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top right, or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House, you might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Welcome! Shayne

As a writer doing research for a book, I discovered an amazing list of individuals with whom I shared my name. This discovery nurtured my desire to do more genealogical research. I have now traced my paternal ancestry back to France in the 1500's. I am currently trying to go back to the first of my ancestors which came from Holland or Germany, I believe.

Hi, George -

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM; thank you so much! Here's a link to a great step-by-step explanation of the process, including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, good to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.
