Biography
Marie was born in 1764. She passed away in 1817. First marriage to Karl Joseph / Anton Joseph Kohlbach (1760-1790) lasted only a few months. After becoming a widow Marie Rosine started a 9 year relation with Duke Friedrich Wilhelm of Braunschweig - Wolfenbuttel out of which 3 children were born, and their descendancy ennobled. The three children were born out of wedlock since Duke Friedrich's mother Princess Augusta of Great Britain (grandadughter of King George II) would not give her consent to her son marrying a plebeian. The 3 children consequently had the Kohlbach surname.
