Aaron Kosminski is Notable.

Aaron was born in 1865. He passed away in 1919.

Aaron was a Polish Jewish immigrant who emigrated to Whitechapel, England in 1881 with his family. He worked as a hairdresser in Whitechapel. Sometime during 1888, murders began which were attributed to Jack the Ripper. Eleven deaths are attributed to him. Until recently, his identity was only guessed at, but through DNA examination, it is believed by many his true identity has been confirmed. A DNA match with a great niece of Aaron's (a descendant of his sister) using a shawl supposedly found at one of the crime scenes confirmed that Aaron was indeed Jack the Ripper. The shawl also contained DNA from the victim, Catherine Eddowes, and was matched to one of her descendants. The DNA testing has not been through peer reviews, yet, though, so some still doubt the authenticity. Circumstantial evidence also indicates that Aaron fits the profile, as the murders stopped the same time Aaron was admitted to a mental facility, Colney Hatch Mental Asylum, in 1891. He remained there until his death in 1919.

Aaron Kosminski is buried in the East Ham Jewish Cemetery, East Ham, London Borough of Newham, Greater London, England.[1]

There is controversy surrounding the provenance of the shawl, as there is no documented evidence that a shawl was actually found near Eddowes... the policeman who is said to have found it and kept it had no relation to the investigation nor the investigators... and the degree of contamination of an heirloom taken out and shown about to family and other interested parties would be incredibly high for a result to have any statistical level of confidence. In addition, the reported mutation is actually a very common one in European populations.

Paraphrased from a source critiquing the presentation of Ripperology, the accuracy of historical research by that community and media presentations of anything Ripper-related... the critique also included comments, first hand, by a forensic geneticist on the shawl and the supposed findings presented. The source of the critique was made by an actual academic historian with extensive knowledge of the era in question.
