David was born May 3, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas. He was the son of Fred Koch and Mary Clementine Robinson.[1]

He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees (BS and MS) in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he also excelled in basketball.

David was the US vice-presidential candidate in 1980 for the Libertarian Party.[2]

In 1996 he married Julia Flesher.[3]

He served as the Vice President of Koch Industries until 2018.

He served on the board of many different organizations.

He gave over 1 billion dollars in philanthropic donations during his lifetime.[4]

He passed away on August 23, 2019, at his home in Manhattan at the age of 79. [5]
