Erick Kvistad (born Erik Knudsen Standal) was born on 15 Jun 1841 in Hjørundfjord, Norway (present day Ørsta, Møre og Romsdal), the son of Knud E. Eriksen and Ingeborg Eliasdatter.^[1]

Erik married Berte Caroline Jensdatter Kvistad, daughter of Jens Iversen, on 24 Jun 1866 in Hjørundfjord.^[2] Their children were:

In the 1900 census, Erik K. Sveen was a crofter at Kvistad-Sveen in Hjørundfjord.^[5] He was listed with his wife Berte, son Edvard, and daughter Karolina.

Erik emigrated to the United States, departing from Trondheim in Aug 1903.^[6] His destination was Echo, Minnesota.

In the 1910 census Erick (age 68) was the married father of Syvert Kvistad in Sioux Agency, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota.^[7]

Erik died on 15 Sep 1919 in Yellow Medicine County, aged 78.^[8] He was buried in Hillside Cemetery.^[9]
