Biography

Nothing is known of the ancestry of either the Richard B. Knox of Jay, Maine, or of the Eady or Addy Knox, of Livermore, Maine , who apparently married, either at Livermore or Jay, in 1820 or 1821.

Research Note

Richard may have been a son of the Richard Knox who was living at Jay in 1810, one of the two males aged 10 to 15 in that household.[1] Or he may be one of the two males aged 16 to 25 living in the household of Stacy D. Knox at Livermore in 1820, or Addy/Eady may be the female aged 16 to 15 living in that household;[2] the 1928 history of Livermore says that Stacy Knox had a son named Richard.[3]

The date of the marriage of Richard Knox and Addy or Eady Knox is uncertain. A transcription in the Maine Marriages database says that Richard B. Knox and Addy Knox married at Jay on 8 Apr 1820.[4] An entry for the marriage intention of Richard B. Knox of Jay and Eady Knox of Livermore in the vital records of Livermore has the date April 8 without a year. It appears between intentions dated 31 Mar 1821 and 10 Apr 1821, but the marriage intentions in this section of the Livermore records were not always entered in order.[5]

No record has been found of either Richard of Addy/Eady Knox after their marriage.
