Hi Connie; I just found your tutorial on fan chart at wikitree, THANKS for posting any helpful things at Wikitree, we LOVE them. Just on a lark, I punched in your profile number and saw that you and I share a great grandparent, Susannah Lloyd Phillips Rucker. I have alot of Rucker in my family tree! It also showed me where you and I share 254 common ancestors, including Robert the Bruce (1274-1329).

I have been doing genealogy for over 40 years now and it is so FUN! I have a tree online at wikitree, if you want to take a look, Bonney-1177.

Nice to meetcha cousin! I still haven't figured out how to find all your videos, it just seems that occasionally I stumble onto one!

Hi Cindi, Sorry... this is such a late reply. I'm just now seeing it. I guess I need to fix my notifications on WikiTree so I see messages.

Thanks for watching a few of my YouTube channel videos. In case you haven't figured it out since you wrote me, they are at YouTube.com/GenealogyTV. If you subscribe (free) they will pop up in your feed when you return to YouTube. Click the bell icon for more notifications.

Thanks Cousin,

Hi Connie,

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now, I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful, or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. To contact me, log into WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment so that I will be notified. Alternatively, you can click my name to visit my profile, where you can send a private message, or post a comment on my profile page.

PS: I noticed that you are following the "GREEN" tag United_States, but it has been mistyped as United_Sates. You will need to go to the followed tags page and find that tag and delete it and reenter it spelling it correctly for you to receive activity posts with that tag. Also, you might want to enter a surname tag or two.

The tags control the activity which is included in the weekly emails from WikiTree. To get the best results, add separate tags for each surname and spelling variation of interest. You can have up to 20 total and can delete some if you are receiving irrelevant information.

Also, the link for your Ancestry tree isn't working. It says ... "An error occurred while processing your invitation. Your invitation to view the family tree cannot be found." Here is a link to our help page on how to find working Ancestry links: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Links_to_External_Sites_and_Services

Hi Constance!

Thank you for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree. It generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through, either accepting or rejecting all suggested matches. Once that has been done, you should see [add] buttons for each of the remaining names.

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

For those using Chrome or Opera browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles which have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, log into WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment. Alternatively, click my name to visit my profile. From there, you can leave a comment, or send a private message.

Have fun

Hi Constance and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Happy tree climbing

Pam ~ WikiTree Greeter

PS Did you know that Tags become clickable links to others researching those names, or places, that you are interested in. They also control what is included in the family activity emails from WikiTree.

Welcome

This is just a note to say hi and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about joining WikiTree.
