Biography
Thomas Knight was born in Norwood, Surrey, England.
Thomas William Knight was born in the second quarter of 1865 in Norwood, Surrey, England to John Knight and Elizabeth Denton.[1] [2]
When he was very young he lived with his parents in Norwood.[2] By 1881, he had left home and was living with and working for a greengrocer in Croydon, Surrey.[3] In 1891, he was living in Wales and working as a general labourer.[4]
Thomas married Sarah Oliver on 27 Mar 1894 in Croydon.[5] [6] They had four children.
They settled in Caerphilly, Glamorgan, Wales where Thomas had found work and remained there for the rest of their lives.[7] [8]
Thomas William Knight died on 3 Feb 1928 in Caerphilly.[9] [10] He was 62 years old.
His funeral was reported in the newspaper at the time:Mr. T. W. Knight. --- The funeral took place at Penyrheol Cemetery on Wednesday of Mr. Thomas William Knight, Railway View, Energlyn, Caerphilly, who passed away on the 3rd inst., in his 62nd year. Mr. Knight, who had been for over 29 years Inspector of Sewers under the Caerphilly Urban District Counceil was only ill three days with acute bronchitis. ... He was well known throughout the district and was held in the highest esteem. He had resided in Caerphilly over 36 years.[11]
