In 1777 with Massachusetts he was called to march on alarm, he assisted in the Battle of Bennington on 16 Aug 1777 for 8 days under Capt. John Kirkland and Col. John Dickinson. He mustered out on 20 Aug 1777.
Sept. 1777 at request of Gen. H Gates, under Lieut. David Scott's detachment from Capt. John Kirtland's Co. he marched to Stillwater for 17 days during the Battle of Saratoga.
