Disputed Origins

A previous version of this profile claimed (possibly relying on the Tingley fraud[1]) that he was son of Walter Knight. There is no evidence that Walter Knight had any children;[2] Francis has been detached as his son.

Supposedly born 9 September 1617 in England[1] or specifically in Staplegrove, Somerset, England[citation needed]

Death

Supposedly either:
After 2 December 1653[citation needed] [unclear what event/record this date refers to]
After 1648, last living in Pemaquid.[1] [unclear what record this references]

Research Notes

A brief search in FamilySearch, FindMyPast, and Ancestry did not turn up any records matching the 9 September 1617 baptism in Staplegrove, Somerset as reported in the Tingley Meyers source. There are baptisms for Francis Knight on FindMyPast in 1617 in Almeley, Herefordshire, England and Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, England. Cole-12288 01:12, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
