3. ↑ Obituary: Mr. Hermann Edward Kleidon, whose home has been at Ropeley since 1885 is probably the oldest living pioneer. He had been married in Germany in 1875, and in 1882 came out to Queensland with his wife and family. At first, he and his brother, the late Mr. Albert Kleidon. worked at Blenheim for some months. Then he was at Hatton Vale a while, and in 1885 selected at Ropeley under the Homestead Settlement Act. Mr. Kleidon, who will be 79 years of age this month, celebrated his golden wedding in September, 1914, on the day on which his youngest son, Mr. Fred. Kleidon, was married to Miss Olga Wesling, daughter of another of the Ropeley pioneers. Mrs. Kleidon is 72 years of age. Others of the family are Mrs. F. Steinhardt, Mr. H. Kleidon, Mrs. Gustav Kleidon (Brigalow), Mrs. E. Lcisch (Warra), Mr. H. O. Kleidon (Ropeley East), Mr. W. Kleidon (Gatton), Mr. H. Kleidon (Ropeley), and Mrs. J.
