Biography

Samuel B. Kitchen was born in 1819 at Douglas, York, New Brunswick. He was the son of William Kitchen and Elizabeth Smith. He passed away in 1892 at Wilmot, Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada.[1]

Samuel Kitchen of Douglas, York County, New Brunswick married first, Frances Jane Churchill “by license, by consent of Guardian,” 3 Oct 1839. Witnesses were Charles Estey, Mary Anne Kitchen and Thomas H. Brewer.[2]

Frances, Samuel and children: Frederick, John, Adelaide and Arthur, are living at Wilmot, Carleton County, New Brunswick in 1871.[12] Frances, Samuel and daughter Adelaide are still in Wilmot in 1881.[13]

Frances Kitchen died in 1890, aged 74, at Bloomfield, Carleton County, New Brunswick: [14]

On the Canada Census, 1891 for Wilmot, Carleton, New Brunswick, Samuel B. Kitchen, aged 72, is a widower, lodger and farm labourer, living with the family of David Robinson. His father’s birthplace is recorded as United States and his mother as New Brunswick.[15]

Samuel remarried at the age of 73, in 1891, Mary E. (Mount) Howell, his first wife’s half-sister.[16] He died in 1892.[1]
