Gertrude M Kischefsky was born on 6 March 1890 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, daughter of John Kischefsky (~1860– ) and Elizabeth Rusch (~1868– ).

Gertrude (20) married Nathan Van Auken (29) (born on 14 September 1880 in Johnstown, Fulton, New York, United States) on 24 August 1910 in Milwaukee.^[1] Their children were:

• Evelyn C Van Auken (~1911– )
• John Henry Van Auken (1916–1982)
• Ethel S Van Auken (1919–1974)

Gertrude passed away on 29 July 1972 in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, aged 82. She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.^{[2] [3]}
