Alexander received the barony of Kirkmichael from the king, as a reward for having taken prisoner James, the 9th and last Earl of Douglas, at the Battle of Burnswark in 1484 CE. [1]
Suspect parent ( Believe parents now corrected ) etc connection or dob etc is way out.(various conflicting dob being suggested but now roughly in line - whole family line has rough dates !! ) Multiple siblings - yet to be confirmed as actual.
Alexander Kirkpatrick was the son of Roger Kirkpatrick of Closeburn and Margaret Somerville. He died on 9 June 1486.
In 1484 he was granted the lands and territorial Barony of Kirkmichael, Dumfriesshire, as reward for the capture of 9th Earl of Douglas at Burnswark.
