Dr. Bailey Kerby was born on March 26, 1799, to William Kerby and Elizabeth Durham. He was born at the family home in Burke County, North Carolina. In about, 1818 he married Miss Elizabeth Sherrill, his cousin on the Durham side of the family. Elizabeth, was born October 26, 1799, to Isaac Sherill and Mabel Durham. In the 1830s, they moved to Macon County, North Carolina, where he served as a Constable.
Dr. Kerby died on January 7, 1876, in Towns County, Georgia. Elizabeth Kerby outlived her husband by only a few months dying on October 5, 1876. They are both buried at Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Towns County, Georgia.

1. Priscilla Kerby was born August 13, 1819, in Burke County, North Carolina. She died May 17, 1885, in Towns County, Georgia. She married Uel J. Bryson.
2. Jason Carson Kerby was born February 7, 1822, in Burke County, North Carolina. He died March 1, 1864. He married Elizabeth Crow. He served in the Union Army.
3. William Rufus Kerby was born December 8, 1824, in Burke County, North Carolina. He died in September 1849 in Rabun County, Georgia. He married Fannie Picklesimer.
4. Isaac Nelson Kerby was born May 10, 1825, in Burke County, North Carolina. He died August 6, 1863, in Charleston, South Carolina. He married Thursia B. Jones. He served in the Confederate Army.
5. Mary Elizabeth Kerby was born January 3, 1829, in Burke County, North Carolina. She died October 1, 1901, in Towns County, Georgia. She married Tillman H. Bryson.
6. Warren F. Kerby was born about 1832 in Burke County, North Carolina. He died about 1890 in Towns County, Georgia. He married Talitha Ann "Sis" Keener.
7. Hugh Hamilton Kerby was born May 23, 1834, in Burke County, North Carolina. He died September 24, 1904, in DeKalb County, Alabama. He married Louisa E. Bundren.
8. Anna H. Kerby was born about 1836 in North Carolina. She died after 1850.
9. Hawkins Judson Kerby was born about 1838 in North Carolina. He died in 1864. He served in the Confederate Army.
10. Elisa Josephine Kerby was born about 1841 in Macon County, North Carolina. She married John Van Buren Crow and died in Texas.
11. Nancy T. Kerby was born about 1848 in Georgia. She seems to have died before 1860.
Although the family name is often found as Kirby, especially among modern descendants, he spelled his name Kerby.
