Obituary

In the early hours of Friday morning there passed away Mrs. Ellen Taylor, widow of Mr. William Taylor, of the New Inn. She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. John Kingdon, of the Home Farm, West Buckland. Of a kind and loving disposition, she was extremely popular. She was one to expect sympathy from, and no one ever heard her say an unkind word of any person. There are several sons and daughters to mourn her death. She was 75 years of age.[7]
The mortal remains of Mrs. Taylor were interred in the Parish Churchyard. A large number attended to pay a last mark of respect. The immediate mourners were Mr N. Taylor (Barnstaple), Mr S. Taylor (Toyndee, S. Wales), (sons), Mrs Chambers, London, Mrs Johns, Cardiff, Mrs Boundy, Whimple, Mrs Jordan and Mrs Mullins, Barnstaple (daughters), Mrs Bole, Misses M. Turner, M. Johns and W. Taylor (granddaughters), Mr W. Taylor (grandson), Messrs. Johns, H. Jordan and C. Mullins (sons-in-law), Mrs S. Taylor (daughter-in-law), Mrs W. Taylor (daughter-in-law). The bearers were Messrs. H. Potter, E. Howard, R. Mayne, G. H. Dinnacombe, H. J. Ward, and R. Gaydon. Floral tributes included:- "In loving memory of dear mother, from her sorrowing daughter, and granddaughter, Lizzie and Maggie; In loving remembrance of our dear gran, from her sorrowing grandchildren, Bert and Lucy, Swindon; Mr and Mrs R. Mayne; Mrs Tucker, Frogmoor; and G. H.; B and N. Dinnicombe.[8]
