Biography

Barbara was born in 1924 in Streetsville Ontario (now part of Mississauga). In the 1930's family moved to Brigden Ontario where her father was branch manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia. It was there that she first met Bob her future husband. She attended high school in Petrolia and then moved to Cochrane Ontario with her family were she graduated from High School. Canada Voters list of 1940 shows her father as bank manager there. Graduated from University of Toronto in 1946 . It was while at University that she again encountered Bob. Barbara, daughter of E. E. King & King, married Robert Davis Irvine in Abt 1947 in Cochrane

Family settled in Sarnia Ontario in 1950s. Raised 4 Children. Worked for Lambton County Library , Lambton Mall branch as Librarian 1970- 1990.

Cancer survivor. in 1990 Barbara was diagnosed with throat cancer and had larynx removed. She survived 24 years beyond initial diagnosis. She was greatly admired for her courage and fortitude.

Moved to Barrie area around 2000.

She passed away in 2014. Survived by 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Barbara was mentioned on a memorial in Bear Creek Cemetery, Brigden, Lambton County, Ontario, Canada with a death date of 16 September 2014.[1]
