James was born about December, 1864. Not much is known about his origins, except that he is said to have Irish-African ancestry.[1] Apparently, James' father was reported as Irish in the 1910 Federal Census (see below).
Family
James married on 20 August 1895 in Stockbridge, Henry County, Georgia to Delia Linsey.[2] He was thirty-one-years old, and she was twenty years old.[1]
Note: In the 1920 Federal Census, eight children, seven living, were reported (see below).
Occupation
James King was a share-cropper. For the first few years after his marriage, the couple worked throughout Henry and Clayton Counties in Georgia, moving from place to place.[1] In 1900, the couple settled in Stockbridge, Henry County, where they raised nine children.[1]
Death and Legacy
James died 17 November, 1933 at Stockton, Fulton County, Georgia.[5]
