John Kiddell was born about 1854, the son of Mary Ann (Baker) Kiddell and James Kiddell.^{[citation needed]}

He was married to Alice Maud Burgoyne. Their children were:

• Mary Emma Kiddell (1887?–1965)
• John Herbert Kiddell (1889?–1973)
• Florence Eliza Kiddell (1893?–1967)

John died on 25 December 1923 in Preston, Victoria, Australia, aged 69 years.^[1][2]

   KIDDELL.—On Christmas morn (suddenly), John, the dear husband of Alice Maud, and father of Emma (Mrs. Jones, Bacchus Marsh), Bert (Ivanhoe), and Florrie (Mrs. Crean, Ormond), aged 69 years.
   Beautiful memories left behind
   Of a loving husband and father true and kind.
   In early morn when all was still,
   God gave His great command;
   In silent peace he passed away
   Into the better land.
   He bade no one a last farewell,
   He said good-bye to none;
   His spirit flew before we knew
   That he from us had gone.
