Biography

John Maynard Keynes, 1st Baron Keynes CB FBA (5 June 1883 – 21 April 1946), was a British economist whose ideas fundamentally changed the theory and practice of macroeconomics and the economic policies of governments.

John Maynard Keynes was born on 5 June 1883 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, the son of Florence Ada Keynes and John Neville Keynes. [1] [2]

John's birth was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1883 in the Cambridge district.[3]

In the 1901 census John (age 17) was in Eton, Buckinghamshire, England.[4]

In 1911, according to electoral registers, he was living at Kings College, Cambridge. [5]


He married Lydia Lopokova in 1925.[2]

In 1939 he was living at 17a St Edwards Passage, Cambridge, England. He was living with wife Lydia and staff.[6]


John died on 21 April 1946 in Firle, Sussex, England, aged 62 years.[1][2][7]
