Biography

James Henry Keogh was born on 26th October 1870 in Woodford Island, New South Wales (Australia). He was the second son born to John Keogh and Rebecca Small. [1] He was a great grandson of First Fleet convicts, John Small (1761-1850) and Mary Parker (c1758-1824), Second Fleeter George Patfield (1763-1809), and 1793 convict arrival, Mary O'Brien (c1772-1853).

On 25th October 1893, James married Rosina Hill in Christ Church Church of England (now Anglican Cathedral), Grafton. [2] In April 1905 Rosina applied for divorce on the grounds of desertion. In 1899 James had been gaoled for 12 months on a misappropriation of £66. He had not been seen for a further three years and so Rosina was granted her divorce, There were four children to this marriage. [3]

Nothing further is known of James. Where did he go? Did he change his name? Are you able to help?
