Stan Kenton is Notable.
Stan Kenton was a renowned big band leader and composer active since 1930. He started his professional musical career as a touring piano player in others bands. He formed his first orchestra in 1940 in Los Angeles, California. By the mid-1940s, his group was playing progressive jazz. Kenton's band was the first to perform an outdoor concert at the Hollywood Bowl on 12 Jun 1948.
Even through changing popular musical styles in the late 1950s to the mid 1960s, Stan kept recording. In 1957, Stan and his band recorded the Dragnet theme.
