Biography
Michael Owen Kennard was born on 21 August 1851 in Tennessee, United States, son of Christopher William Kinnard (1822–1854) and Martha Virginia Watkins (1828–1857). Both of his parents were gone by 1857 and he grew up with his maternal uncles at the Watkins Plantation.[1]
He married Mary Royles about 1874. Their children were Birdie, William, James, [2] and Mattie.[3]
He died 31 January 1907. He is buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville.[4]

Michael and his sister were minor heirs of their parents' property which included slaves.
