Research Notes

There was another Janet Keith who also had a father named William but he was the "Great Marischal of Scotland." That Janet married Philip Arbuthnot.
Sir John Stuart of Darnley was said to be the son of Janet by some[5] but Scots Peerage claimes she was certainly not the mother.[3]
The maiden name of Janet may have been More.[6]
This Janet should not be confused with another Janet Keith who also had a father named William. That Janet married Philip de Arbuthnot. [7]

The Peerage: Janet Keith, cites Cokayne[8] but reference does not mention Janet rather only her husband and possible son. Cokayne references Scots Peerage.[3]
