Monday evening last in hospital at
Newcastle, Mr. William George Keast,
71, passed away after a few weeks ill
ness Deceased was a son of the late
Mr .and Mrs. William George Keast,
of the Nambucca. Born at Frederick
ton, the late Mr. Keast, at the age of
24 years, was married at Frederickton,
to Miss Bertha Brenton. For many
years ne tarmeo at Viienrocic ana ^ui
lombatti. Later he joined the road
staff of the Macleay Shire Council, and
was actively engaged in his work up
to the commencement of the illness
which caused his death. Residing at
Frederickton, he was a most active
member of the Frederickton Aquatic
Club, and for fifty years he has been
a worthy member of the G.U.O.O.F.
During the Great War of 1914-18 he
was very active in war work, ..and did
much to help patriotic efforts. One
son, the late Reginald M. Keast, saw
service in the Great War, and as a re
sult of such service he predeceased his
father by a day. Besides his widow,
he is survived by a family of five
daughters and one son. One daughter,
Dulcie, and one son, Reg, predeceased
him. Mr. William George Keast,
Northbridge, is the surviving son; and
Mrs. J. Tester, Mrs. W. Craig, Mrs.
R. Dyson, Mrs. G. Bannerman, and
Mrs. E. Ainsworth, all of Kempsey,
are the surviving daughters. Wide
spread sympathy is extended the
family in their double bereavement.
Mrs. Andrew Murphy, West Kempsey,
and Mr. J. Keast, Frederickton, are
sister and brother of deceased. The
casket arrived in Kempsey last even
ing by train from Newcastle, and the
funeral takes place to-day (Wednes
day) at 1 o'clock, moving from his late
residence, Frederickton, to the Fred
erickton cemetery, calling en route at
the Methodist Church, where the Rev.
Kay Mason will officiate at a short
service at which Miss D. Keast will
preside at the organ. Mr. J. R. Gar
land has charge of arrangements.
