Sophia Margaret Kautz was born in Holstein, Germany, January 2, 1883, The eldest daughter of Henry and Anna Cook Kautz. At the age of One year she moved to America with her parents, settling in Chicago, Illinois. At the age of 12 her family came to Tama, where she has lived ever since. On March 7, 1901 Sophia Margaret Kautz and Fred J. Schultz were married in Tama. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary to months ago. Following several weeks of illness, she passed away Saturday, May 17th at her home in Tama. She is survived by her Husband, three Daughters, and two Sons: Mrs. Ben (Minnie) Keifer of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Julia Smith of Tama; Mrs. Kenneth (Alvira) Hummell of Tempe, Ariz.; Orien Schultz of Tama; and Clyde Schultz of Lake View, Ia. Also Surviving her are three sisters: Mrs. George (Alma) Beadle; Mrs.Clyde (Bertha) Crabtree; and Mrs. Clifford (Lucy) Bidwell. In addition there are three Grand Daughters, three Grand Sons, and four Grand Children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Three Sisters, a Brother, One Grand Child, and one Great Grand Child.
