Biography

Gerrit Johan Kastein was born on 4 September 1840 at 4 a.m. in Dinxperlo, son of Willem Kastein (laborer, age 25) and Aleida Rademaker. [1]

In 1880 he (39), his spouse Johanna (41), their children Alyda (9), Dina (7), William (6), Henrietta (5), Hermanus (4), and aunt Johanna Ferbeest (70) were resident in Alto, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States. All adults were born in the Netherlands, all children in Wisconsin. [2]

In 1900 he (60), his spouse Jane (62), their daughters Eliza (30) and Gertrude (28) and two grandsons, Jacob Garretson (4) and John Garretson (2) were resident in Alto township, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States. They immigrated in 1869 and were estimated to have married in 1870. [3]

He died on 17 July 1903 in Brandon, Wisconsin. [4]
