The 1920 census says he immigrated to the U.S. in 1908, however, there is an Eddie Karvinen, age 16, on the 1905 Minnesota state census that appears highly likely to be him (matches est. birth year, birthplace Finland, and shows him living in the same Minnesota county as the 1920 U.S. census).

The Karvinen spelling is from a great-granddaughter of his, who got it from her father's birth certificate (his daughter Aurelia's son), and from the MN state census, 1905. "Karvonen" is from the 1940 U.S. census. "Korvinen" is from the 1920 U.S. census.

The 1940 census, ennumerated 25 Apr 1940, is the last record I have found for him. That is the basis for the date of death, "after 25 Apr 1940."

• Source: S6 U.S. Census, 1940. Shows him widowed, age 50, living in L'Anse, L'Anse Village, Baraga County, Michigan, with daughter Lillian, age 18. Spells the surname Karvonen. Source for est. birth year, birthplace Finland.
