Michael (Kaminer) Curtiz is Notable.
- Hungarian-born Michael Curtiz was a highly successful Hollywood film director. He won an Oscar for directing Casablanca. Other well-known films he directed were: White Christmas, Mildred Pierce and Yankee Doodle Dandy.
- In 1905, he changed his name to Mihály Kertész, with the intention of appearing more Hungarian and less Jewish
- Came to the US in 1926, Anglicizing his name to Michael Curtiz
- Lost family members who perished at Auschwitz
