Biography

Karl was born in 1924 in Rudolfstadt, Czechoslovak Republic, now Rudolfov, Czech Republic.[1] He completed a course of study at the College of Education in Budweis, now České Budějovice, after which he was drafted into the German army.
After World War II he and his family were expelled from Czechoslovakia and ended up in a refugee settlement in Schwebenried, Bavaria, today Arnstein, Bavaria. There he married Anna Sitter, whom he knew from before the war in Rudolfstadt.[2]
In 1949 the family relocated to Weißenstein, Baden-Württemberg, now Lauterstein, where they were able to combine reparations for lost property in Czechoslovakia, paid by the German government, to build a small house. The house had three bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom on the first floor, and three bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom, all with slanted roofs, on the second floor. It housed the Jungschaffers with three children, Anna's parents, Karl's sister, and Anna's sister and her husband for several years.
Since his teaching degree was obtained under the Austrian system it was not recognised in Germany and he so he worked various factory and warehouse jobs until the late 50's when Germany experienced a teacher shortage. He had the opportunity to study one more year and have his teaching credentials recognised in Germany. The Jungschaffers sold their share of the house to Anna's sister and her husband to afford this year of study and after completion moved to Eislingen, Baden-Württemberg, where Karl got a position as a teacher at the elementary school (first through ninth grade in Germany).
After the death of his wife he remarried and lived in Eislingen until his early retirement for health reasons in 1984. He moved to Vienna, Austria, following his second wife, who worked there in the diplomatic service of Germany. He died there in 1985 and was subsequently burried in Eislingen[3].

Buried Eislingen, F.R.G.

Occupation: teacher.
