"History of Noble County, Ohio"; Watkins, 1887, p422:
Jacob Jordan and his sons, Adam and Peter, were among the earliest settlers near the township line in the vicinity of Hiramsburg. Henry Hamilton, a brother-in-law of Jacob Jordan, was an early settler in the same neighborhood. While this was still a part of Guernsey County, elections were held at the house of the Jordans.
Jacob Jordan, a Revolutionary soldier, came to this township {Brookfield} in 1810 and left it in 1818.
p425: The township {Brookfield} had twenty or more male inhabitants above twenty-one years of age in 1817. The law required that number before trustees could be elected for the school section. August 4, 1817, on petition of Abraham Jordan and others, an election was ordered for that purpose, to be held at the house of Jacob Jordan, August 25. All the early elections were held at the same place, the first being held June 23, 1810, for the purpose of choosing justices and other township officers for Buffalo Twp. Guernsey County, in which Brookfield was then included.
p 496: Jacob Jordan was the pioneer blacksmith of the village of Hiramsburg in Noble Township.
p. 549: The Jordans were early settlers on Will's Creek, about five miles from Cambridge. Afterward they removed to the headwaters of Duck Creek, near Hiramsburg, where their descendants still remain. Jacob was the father, and he came to Jackson Township. He had nine sons and two daughters. Jacob and Isaac (twins), Elijah and David, were among his sons who resided several years in this township.

From "Genealogy of Jacob Jordan & Mary Ann Shriver" by the Jordan Reunion Committee, 1967, p5:
"By 1806, when his youngest child was born, Jacob had moved his family to Guernsey Co., Ohio, where he bought land from the U. S. Gov't, original Ohio River Survey, on low ground near Byesville.
The whole family had ague, so they moved in 1810 to higher ground, entering all the land around what is now Scott Cem., in Brookfield twp. near Hiramsburg when it was part of Guernsey Co. They were among its earliest settlers. Early elections were held at Jacob's house, (Watkins, 1887, "Hist. of Noble Co.") one, 6-23-1810, to choose twp. officers for the new Buffalo twp., another in 1816 when most of the men got drunk on cider mixed with something stronger. On 8-25-1817 an election for trustees for the first school was held there. The law required 20 male inhabitants over 21 to sign the petition for an election. Abraham Jordan was probably the youngest signer. Boundary changes made this part of Morgan County in 1818, and Noble County in 1851. Jacob sold this land and moved to Olive Green twp. (organized in 1819 and named for the stream), Morgan Co. (now Jackson twp., Noble Co.). He was listed on the tax duplicate as a real estate owner there in 1836. After his wife's death, he went to live with his youngest son, David, at Athens, Ohio. He had 11 children. All married and left many descendants." (Boy, is that an understatement! --Pattie Hannon)
